When contaminated soil or contaminated groundwater is suspected, sampling
and analysis must be conducted to confirm the presence or absence of the
suspected contaminants. Boston Environmental makes every effort to
minimize costs, damage to property and disruption of business or home
usage through the use of the latest drilling and sampling equipment
available. Accurate sampling methods are important as well as sampling
points decisions. Utilizing state-of-the-art sampling equipment and
decontamination techniques, Boston Environmental can precisely detect and
quantify contamination, defining the vertical and lateral extent of the
plume as required by state regulations.
Once contamination is confirmed and defined, Boston Environmental will
represent the client with the Department of Environmental Protection, and
local government agencies, and file on behalf of the client, necessary
documentation and reports, describing remediation measures, including:
state regulated Immediate Response Actions (IRAs) Plans, Response Action
Measures (RAM) plans, Tier Classifications (if required) and Response
Action Outcomes (RAOs) to close the site when remediation is completed. If
remediation is required, Boston Environmental will offer remediation
options and propose the most economic and timely technology consistent
with the requirements of the problem and state regulations. These include
among others, Excavation, Steam Enhanced Vapor Extraction, Air Sparging,
Bioremediation, treatment with Hydrogen Peroxide or other oxygen
generating compounds, or any combination of these. Boston Environmental
will draw on the resources of other remediation specialists for specific
services as required as in the case of thermal remediation where we
partner with
Continental Remediation
for Thermal/Chemical remediation.
In many instances, sites can be closed by Method 3 Risk Assessment,
whereby the consultants presents evidence on behalf of the client showing
that the short and long term health of the occupants of the property and
abutters will not be put at risk by the level of contamination present at
the site. This approach requires a separate Activities and Use Limitation
(AUL) be attached to the property deed limiting the uses of the site and
requiring that any excavations work on the site must be conducted under
the oversight of an Licensed Site Professional (LSP).
Boston Environmental & Engineering of Waltham Massachusetts can send a
consultant to conduct a site assessment for soil and groundwater
contamination for your residential, commercial, or industrial property.
